The following is a legend of the codes describing the format, content, and attendance of A.A. meetings listed on this website.
| BG | Beginners Meeting - NOT only for beginners, but usually concentrating on issues pertaining to people new to A.A. |
| BB | Big Book Meeting - Group reads and discusses the Big Book of A.A. |
| C | Closed Meeting - Attendance limited to those with a desire to stop drinking |
| D | Discussion Meeting - Open forum discussion of alcohol related topics |
| G | Gay/Lesbian Meeting - Topics related to issues concerning gay or lesbian alcoholics |
| LS | Literature Study Meeting - Topics related to A.A literature |
| M | Men's Meeting - Attendance limited to men |
| O | Open Meeting - Attendance not limited to Alcoholics (friends, family, or anyone interested in AA welcome) |
| P | Promises Meeting - Discussion of Meeting based on the AA 9th step promises |
| S | Speaker Meeting - Speaker shares their experience, strength, and hope |
| SS | Step Study Meeting - Reading and discussion of the 12 steps of A.A. |
| TS | Tradition Study Meeting - Reading and discussion of the 12 traditions of A.A. |
| W | Women's Meeting - Attendance limited to women |
| Y | Young People's Meeting - NOT only for young people, but usually concentrating on issues pertaining to young people in A.A. |
